Sep 5, 2008 (newstodate): The construction of a second runway at Russia's Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport has now been secured with the granting a further financial support from the Russian state.
With the latest financial boost, the runway is expected to be completed in 2009.
The airport currently has one 3,600 m runway, and the new 3,605 m runway will allow the aiport to handle aircraft of any size, and rank Novosibirsk on a par with Moscow and St Petersburg as to runway capacity.
December 10, 2007, Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport opened its new multimodal cargo centre with a capacity of handling up to 150,000 tonnes of cargo annually.
The airport is among Russia's 12 prime international airports that will attract state and regional investments securing their 365-24-7 operational status.
