Sep 22, 2008 (newstodate): Protests against noise pollution may force Romania's Bucharest Baneasa Airport to close.
The airport is close to Bucharest city, and the country's prime minister has now proposed that the airport be closed down and traffic directed to Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport, 20 km from the city.
Traffic at Baneasa Airport comprises many low-cost operations.
Other plans include the construction of a new airport at Adunatii Copaceni, 20 km from Bucharest.
Plans for the new airport have reportedly already been worked out, and the airport could be opened after two years of construction work.
