Sep 3, 2008 (newstodate): Finnair and Finncomm Airlines have formed a joint venture, Finnish Aircraft Maintenance, which will specialise in maintenance services for regional aircraft.
The company has earlier operated as part of the Finncomm Group, and the two partners will now co-own the company 50/50.
In the beginning of August the company, headed by Juha Ojala as managing director, received an aircraft maintenance licence, covering maintenance on ATR turboprop and Embraer 145 jet aircraft.
The company will open a new maintenance hangar at Helsinki-Vantaa in the Spring of 2009 and expects to employ around 60 people.
FAMs biggest customer is Finncomm Airlines, which currently has nine ATR 500 series aircraft and plans to grow the ATR fleet to 16 aircraft by 2011.
