Sep 26, 2008 (newstodate): Effective from the start of September, 2008, Austrian Airlines Cargo and Ukraine International Airlines have replaced AN-12 with a Boeing 737 freighter on their joint freigher service between Vienna and Kiev, Ukraine.
The joint freighter operation set up on November 10, 2003, is boosted by UIA's acquisition of its first Boeing 737-300SF, and the carrier will receive a second freighter of the the same type by earely 2009, both on a leasing contract with GECAS.
While the cargo uplift capacity of the two aircraft are roughly identical around 20 tonnes, the Boeing 737-300SF offers more cargo space, and much faster loading and unloading.
