Sep 12, 2008 (newstodate): Lufthansa is increasing its presence in the Italian market to fill the void shrouding Alitalia.
The carrier has announced the opening from February, 2009, of a series of new direct routes from Milano to destinations including Bucharest, Romania, and Budapest, Hungary.
Lufthansa also plans to allocate six Airbus A319 in Italy, replacing earlier plans for Embraer 195.
The aircraft wil be operated by Lufthansa's subsidiary, Air Dolomiti.
