Sep 25, 2008 (newstodate): Despite a decline by 40 percent in Riga Airport's cargo volumes in 2008, leading cargo terminal Baltic Cargo Center remains upbeat about its performance.
-Although cargo to and from Riga is stagnating in 2008, Baltic Cargo Center has no reasons for complaints so far, says Olegs Korshe, BCC general manager.
-Statistics on this year's nine months results show an increase by 18 percent, y-o-y, in cargo and mail volume handled, thanks to a growth in transit volumes by 48 percent, y-o-y.
-Last month, the share of transit cargo and mail reached 37 percent of the total volumes handled by BCC.
-With more than 70 percent of the total volumes and all the transit cargo, airBaltic is of course our single largest client, followed by SAS, and Lufthansa, while others including Singapore Airlines, Cargolux, and WFS are all generating trucked cargo, says Mr Korshe.
