Sep 19, 2008 (newstodate): Tatarstan's government has approved the plan by Bulgarian company Chimimport for modernisation of the region's Kazan International Airport.
In June this year Chimimport won the tender for modernisation of Kazan International Airport to modern standards.
The plan comprises two stages - the first stage till the end of 2010 will bring the airport's handling capacity to two million passengers, while the second, expiring by March 2013, will bring capacity to five million pasngers.
In the plans is the construction of a third terminal and a 3,400 m long and 60 m wide runway.
