Sep 9, 2008 (newstodate): The Russian ministry of transportation and the government of Irkutsk have agreed on the construction of a new airport at Irkutsk.
The new airport, reportedly to built at Klyuchevaya, some 36 km from Irkutsk, will replace the current airport in the centre of Irkutsk that is often affected by fog and bad weather conditions closing down operations.
In connection to the construction of a new airport, a special economic zone will be established.
