Sep 8, 2008 (newstodate): Estonia's Tallinn Airport continued its strong cargo increase during August.
Total volumes of cargo and mail rose by 118.9 percent, y-o-y,to a total of 4,258 tonnes.
As earlier, the increase was driven solely by cargo imports, up 138.1 percent, y-oi-y, to 4,188 tonnes, while exports dropped 42.7 percent to 95 tonnes.
For January-August, the airport reported a total of 28,491 tonnes, up 192.9 percent.
Airfreight imports, thus comprising 97.8 percent of total volumes, are Chinese goods transferred via Tallinn Airport for onward transportation to Russia.
