Sep 30, 2008 (newstodate): Kosovo's Pristina International Airport is to be put up for privatisation in 2009.
A tender process is reportedly soon to be opened, having been on the agenda from the launch of the new republic.
The decision reflects the need to attract foreign investments into the airport, either through direct sale or through the granting of concessions to operate and manage the airport.
Pristina International Airport has a 2,500 m runway and served a total of 1.1 mio passenger in 2007, an increase by 12 percent.
Existing facilities also include a 2,500 sq.m. cargo terminal, operating since December, 2002, with a daily capacity at 100 tonnes.
