Sep 17, 2008 (newstodate): Moscow Domodedovo International Airport has lost passengers with the transfer of AiRUnion traffic to Moscow Vnukovo Airport - but remains upbeat about its future development.
-We saw passenger traffic increasing in August by nine percent, as was also the case in July, says an East Line spokeswoman.
-Passenger traffic volumes on routes within Russia and CIS have lately been decreasing by two-three percent per month, but we see the opposite trend in international traffic, rising two-three percent per month.
-Concerning the effects from AirUnion's move, we forecast a decrease by one to three percent in passenger traffic in September. After that the situation will improve at Domodedovo due to the build-up of AirUnion's passenger traffic compensation.
-Thus, most of the charter flights will be operated by Transaero from October this year, and Transaero will probably also launch new routes to Tomsk and Krasnoyarsk.
-We now forecast a two to three percent passenger increase for October, and there should be a four to five percent increase during the coming full winter season.
-Vnukovo will probably not much growth in volumes from the move of AiRUnion traffic. We expect AirUnion to cancel a lot of their flights. They have already stopped flying on many routes to cities with Russia and CIS, the spokeswoman says.
