Sep 23, 2008 (newstodate): Afghanistan is keen to re-develop its airport infrastructure under an ambitious construction plan.
Within the coming fire years, Afghanistan plans to build a total of 12 new airport, including five new international airports and seven regional airports.
The plan hinges on donations from international sources that have so far secured 500 mio USD for the purpose.
Afghanistan's only operating international airport is Kabul Airport, and traffic at most existing airfields remains limited by military movements and security curfews.
