Aug 21, 2008 (newstodate): The Turkish cargo airline MNG Airlines has acquired the Slovenian carrier Solinair.
-The acquisition is quite recent, and we have now started work on a European strategy for MNG Airlines, but this certainly demonstrates that we are determined to grow our business in Europe, says Caglar Ozturk, MNG Airlines spokesman.
-We have earlier sold one Airbus A300 freighter to Solinair, and we may well decide to add further aircraft to its fleet.
-We expect details to emerge as the new European strategy is being worked out over the coming few months, but the Slovenian carrier will indeed continue to operate under its own name, says Mr Ozturk.
Solinair is based at Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport and Portoroz Airport in Slovenia and operates flights for UPS and TNT with a fleet of two SAAB 340 aircraft, several smaller freighter and one Airbus A340B4 freighter.
