Aug 5, 2008 (newstodate): The Swedish operator Nord-Flyg intends to increase its fleet of converted ex-SAS Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
The airline was the first to order cargo conversions of the Q400, initially acquiring two ex-SAS aircraft for conversion to freighters by Cascade Aerospace of Abbotsford, Canada.
The first converted aircraft is expected to be delivered to Nord-Flyg later this month.
The carrier has reportedly ordered a further three Q400 aircraft for cargo conversion following a LoI with a third party.
The converted Q400 freighter will have the capacity to carry 85-90 cubic meters of bulk cargo, or 9-9.5 tonnes of cargo over distances up to some 900 nm.
