Aug 4, 2008 (newstodate): In its latest air cargo statistics including May, 2008, Sweden's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport notes a sustained decline in air cargo volumes through the airport.
In May the airport handled a total of 4,282 tonnes of cargo, a decline by 215 percent, y-o-y.
The drop was driven by a 29 percent shortfall in imports and a 21 percent decrease in exports.
For January-May 2008, the airport reported a total of 27,805 tonnes of cargo, down 23 percent, y-o-y, including 15,024 tonnes of imports, down 28 percent, and 12,781 tonnes of exports, down 16 percent.
The decline is primarily attributed to the pull-out of freigher services by Cargolux and MAS since summer 2007
