Aug 14, 2008 (newstodate): Facing a steep drop in its Q2/2008 earnings, the SAS Group is further intensifying the cost-cutting measures in its on-going "profit 2008" plan.
SAS will thus reduce capacity by an additional seven aircraft, entailing a total reduction of 18 aircraft.
For the entire Group, the total reduction corresponds to 33 aircraft and the number
of positions will be reduced by a total of approximately 2,500, meaning an additional 500 positions added to the figure that
was previously announced.
SAS Airlines will ground a total of 16 aircraft, 15 of its subsidiary Spanair's aircraft will be grounded, as well as one aircraft in Blue1 and Widere, respectively.
