Aug 29, 2008 (newstodate): Russian airlines in the AiRUnion alliance hope to take-off again today after a seven-day period of delays and cancellations.
AiRUnion has accumulated an increasing debt pile with providers of jet fuel at Russian airports, and have only been allowed to fuel their aircraft again from today after a government intervention secured a full traffic programme to be operated until at least September 7, 2008.
Before that deadline, AiRUnion must seek a long-term solution to their current problems.
AiRUnion member airlines include Krasair, Domodedovo Airlines, Omskavia, Samara Airlines and Sibaviatrans.
AiRUnion is a candidate member to the Star Alliance, with Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines that already has a strategic cooperation with AiRUnion serving as AiRUnion's curators and partners during the admission process.
