Aug 20, 2008 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Ural Airlines, based at Ekaterinburg, saw its cargo volumes rising during January-July, 2008.
During the seven months, the carrier handled a total of 3,032 tonnes of cargo and 364 tonnes of mail, increasing y-o-y by seven and 12 percent, respectively.
In July alone, cargo volumes increased by eight percent, y-o-y, to 406 tonnes, while mail volumes dropped 12 percent to 48 tonnes.
As part of the fleet modernisation program, Ural Airlines has ordered seven new Airbus A320 aircraft, with five units to be delivered in 2012 and the remaining two by April, 2014.
The carrier now operates four Airbus A320 aircraft as well as 22 Soviet-built aircraft.
