Aug 6, 2008 (newstodate): Russia's Penza Airport, located in the Volga region, is slated to achieve international status before 2010.
The airport's new runway is now being completed, new taxiways have been constructed, and the airport apron area has been enlarged to accomodate future traffic loads.
Before the end of this year two new ILS and locators will be implemented, and the runway will be provided with new airfield lighting systems.
Among other projects on the table is the construction of a new air cargo handling facility.
