Aug 13, 2008 (newstodate): Romania's govenment has decided to build a new cargo terminal at Bucharest Baneasa International Airport.
The project is part of a comprehensive 2002-2020 development plan for the airport.
Also in the plan is a projected new passsenger terminal and construction of a heliport.
The cargo terminal and new passenger terminal will be completed by 2015.
The new infrastructure is needed to cope with the last few years' significant growth in traffic through the airport.
From 2004 to 2007 the airport's passenger traffic thus increased 812 percent, cargo volumes grew by 221 percent, and flights operations by 269 percent.
