Aug 21, 2008 (newstodate): Romania is planning to construct a new airport at Adunatii Copaceni, 20 km from Bucharest.
The planned airport will relieve the pressure on Bucharest Baneasa Airport by taking over most of the low-cost traffic currently serving Bucharest and expected to grow steeply over the coming years.
Plans for the new airport have reportedly already been worked out, and the airport should be opened after two years of construction work.
When it becomes operational, Bucharest Baneasa Airport will be dedicated to serving small aircraft, buz and VIP flights and helicopters mainly.
