Aug 5, 2008 (newstodate): The EBRD is considering a 19 million euro loan to resonstruct Moldova's Chisinau International Airport.
The proceeds will be used for the rehabilitation and upgrade of the existing runway, taxiways, aprons and other connected core assets of the airport.
The European Investment Bank also is considering co-financing alongside EBRD for up to an equal amount in order to strenghten the implementation of more commercial practices at the airport, and increase competition in the aviation sector in Moldova.
Equipped with one 3,590 CAT I runway, Chisinau Airport handled 688,000 passengers and 1,800 tonnes of cargo and mail in 2007.
