Aug 4, 2008 (newstodate): Serbia has now finally opened the long-awaited tender for privatisation of JAT Airways.
Up for sale is 51 percent of the stock in the airline, with the possibility to acquire up to 70 percent of the shares.
Tender documents will be available for bidders till September 22, 2008, and final binding offers may be presented until October 24, 2008.
The minimum price for the 51 percent shares has been fixed at 51 million euro.
Aeroflot is expected to be among the top-runners for acquisition of JAT, having earlier proclaimed its strong interest in the airline as well as issuing promises for keeping the current work force and injecting significant ressouces in the expansion of JAT and renewal of its fleet.
