Aug 7, 2008 (newstodate): In July, Finnair Cargo saw its volumes up 6.9 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 8,664 tonnes.
As always the growth was driven solely by the carrier's expanding Asian traffic.
Asian volumes thus grew 19.7 percent to 6,099 tonnes.
All other markets showed negative growth, including Europe dopwn 10 percent, North Atlantic down 12.7 percent, domestic down 2.2 percent, and cargo leisure down 45.9 percent.
Scheduled charter cargo also dropped 51.9 percent during the month.
For January-July 2008, the carrier handled a total of 60,787 tonnes, up 14 percent, again driven by the Asian traffic that increased by 31.6 percent, y-o-y, to 40,388 tonnes, thus constituting 66 percent of the total.
