Aug 26, 2008 (newstodate): Bulgaria's Plovdiv International Airport will be modernised after a recent government decision.
Plans are to construct a new passenger terminal as well as building a new ATC tower and implementing a new ILS system to allow for more traffic under lower weather conditions.
The airport has a 2,500 m runway and is mainly used by charter operators, also serving as an alternative airport to Sofia Airport.
Plans also comprise new taxiways and construction of a new cargo terminal.
