Aug 7, 2008 (newstodate): Following a tender for reconstruction of St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport, nine bidders have now been shortlisted.
These include Turkey's TAV Airport Holding and Indias GMR Infrastructure Ltd as well as seven Russian parties: Petroport-Kontsessii Open Stock Company, Nevskoye Nebo Ltd, Nevsky Aeroport Ltd, Novaport Ltd, Farvater Financial and Industrial Company, Alice Construction Corporation and International Airport St Petersburg Ltd.
Financial strength will be one crucial parameter as bidders are facing demand for investments of one billion US dollars in the project.
The succesful candidate will obtain a 30 years management contract.
Within a week, the list will be further narrowed after an investigation into the bidders' financial strength, and a final winner will be announced on March 12, 2009.
The full project comprises construction of a renovated passenger terminal and other infrastructure, aiming at creating an airport with an annual capadity of handling 17.5 mio passengers.
