Aug 4, 2008 (newstodate): Aeroflot Cargo has now firmed up it plans for its future freighter fleet.
The carrier will operate a total of six MD-11F aircraft, having already recived the first aircraft now in operation since June, 2008, and expects to take in a further three MD-11F during 2009, with two ex-Finnair MD-11 to follow after conversion to freighter aircraft.
One of four DC-10-40F aircraft has already been pulled out, and Aeroflot Cargo expects all three remaining DC-10-40F aircraft to be grounded successively in 2009.
They will be replaced on domestic and international routes by six new IL-96-400T freighters, with the first three units to be delivered in 2008 already.
Aeroflot Cargo now also operates two Boeing 737-300F on routes from Moscow to Manchester, Helsinki, Hahn, Paris, with new destinations Leipzig, Oslo, and Dusseldorf in the pipeline.
