Jun 24, 2008 (newstodate): Following a tender process, Russia's Gorno-Altaysk Airport has been acquired by the Russian company Glavtorg.
Glavtorg has taken all shares in the airport company, but navaids and runways will remain state property.
The new owner will invest in the airport's passenger facilities, while the Russian state will extend the current 1,300 m runway to a total of 2,400 m, and implement new airfield lighting and navaid systems.
The runway project is planned to be completed in 2009, and when finished the airport will be able to handle aircraft including Boeing 737 to be used on new routes connecting to Moscow and other major Russian cities.
