Jun 30, 2008 (newstodate): SAS Technology Services is marketing a concept to rapidly reconfigure commercial passenger aircraft for medical evacuation services.
With the concept, SAS can reconfigure a Boeing 737-800 aircraft to accomodate a fully equipped medical unit within six hours.
After reconfiguration, the aircraft will carry 12 stretchers, including six intensive care units with special equipment, as well as eight doctors, 11 nurses, a medical unit manager, one pharmaceut, one aircraft mechanic and a loadmaster to supervise the ground handling at the airport.
