Jun 26, 2008 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo has started work on a new freight center in CargoCity South at Frankfurt Airport.
The new Lufthansa Cargo Service Center, with warehouse capacity of about 20,000 sq m and more than 8,000 sq m of office space, will complement the Lufthansa Cargo Center in CargoCity North.
The new handling facility, to start operations from Autumn 2009, will primarily handle mail shipments from medium-sized forwarders and partner airlines as well as accomodating the German and the European sales organisations of Lufthansa Cargo, previously housed in Kelsterbach.
Once the legal go-ahead for a final ruling on practicable night-flight arrangements is obtained, the company will also announce plans for building a new Lufthansa Cargo Center in the north of the Airport.
