Jun 24, 2008 (newstodate): Spiraling fuel costs and decreasing yields will force Icelandair to cut back on its workforce.
The Icelandair group reportedly plans to lay off about 300 staff, reduce frequency on a number of routes, and suspend flights to certain destinations.
The Group earlier cancelled orders for new Airbus A330-200F aircraft, and has cast doubts about whether it will ever operate the Boeing 787 Dreamliners ordered itself, but place the aircraft with other operators.
A board meeting today will decide on the extent of measures to be taken in the difficult situation.
