Jun 18, 2008 (newstodate): Effective from August 5, 2008, Belarus will land its first direct air connection with the Gulf region.
Etihad Airways will launch two weekly flights to Minsk, the capital of Belarus.
The announcement of the launch date coincides with a planned visit to Belarus by a high-level delegation of business leaders from the UAE to examine opportunities for trade and investment between the two countries.
The volume of trade between the two countries now stands at more than 30-40 million UD dollars per year, and is set to increase.
Etihad will initially serve Minsk with Airbus A319 aircraft twice weekly, while a third weekly flight will be added from October 2008.
