Jun 24, 2008 (newstodate): Finland's airport saw a significant decline by 16 percent in total cargo and mail volumes during the first five months of the year.
In total Finavia, the country's airports authority, counted 50,278 tonnes of cargo and mail, down 16.8 percent, y-o-y.
Cargo dropped 17.2 percent to 44,898 tonnes, while mail was down 13 percent to 5,380 tonnes.
International cargo dropped 17.2 percent to 43,698 tonnes, while domestic cargo was down 15.4 percent to 1,199 tonnes.
Finavia manages 25 airports in Finland, including Helsinki Vantaa Airport, but its statistics do not include trucked cargo.
