Jun 10, 2008 (newstodate): The Belarus carrier Belavia is planning the retirement of all Soviet-built aircraft from its fleet.
In the future, the carrier will operate only Boeing 737 and CRJ aircraft, taking in more two Boeing 737-500 aircraft and three CRJ-900 aircraft to replace its four TU-154 aircraft that will be leased or sold to Russian operators.
The 4th Boeing 737-500 will be delivered on June 15, with the 5th to follow in July, 2008, both leased from IFLC.
The added capacity will enable Belavia to open new routes, including flights from Minsk to Milan and to Amsterdam
