May 19, 2008 (newstodate): Russian aircraft maker Sukhoi has today performed the first flight with the new regional jet, SuperJet 100.
The virgin flight was originally planned for ultimo 2007, but delayed due to bottle-necks in the production.
The first flight lasted 40 minutes.
The SuperJet 100 has so far landed a total of 73 confirmed orders in addition to 31 options.
Among the customers is ItAli that has ordered 10 aircraft.
Russia expects to see a significant market in the west for the new aircraft, priced at 28 mio US dollars and showing promising cost-efficiency characteristics.
