May 8, 2008 (newstodate): The Russian ministry of economic development and trade has completed the selection of proposals for establishing special economic zones around Russian ports and airports.
The ministry received a total of 20 proposals, including nine from airports, and 17 of these have been shortlisted for further investigation.
Succesful proposals will be able to draw financing from state sources to build new facilities for economic and free trade zones.
A full list of succesful participants will be published in June, 2008, but Koltsovo Airport, in the Sverdlovsk region, is know to be among the participants.
