May 16, 2008 (newstodate): The Russian airport investment company Novaport has been selected to build a new passenger terminal at Tolmachevo Airport, near Novosibirsk.
Work on the new terminal, designed by the French company ADPI, will start by the end of 2008.
Conceived as a three-stage project, the new terminal will be able to handle up to 5.5 mio passengers annually when fully expanded by 2025.
In its first stage, the terminal will handle up to thre mio passenger annually and comprise a departure hall, a transit hall including commercial facilities, and an arrival hall.
Plans are to position Tolmachevo Airport as a transit and transfer hub for Asian traffic by attracting carriers from Japan, Taiwan and Korea as well as other international companies.
Novaport is also targeting Chelyabinsk, Chita, Tomsk and Barnaul for future airport investments.
