May 28, 2008 (newstodate): Eight large aviation centers are designated to form the backbone of Russia's domestic civil aviation industry under the development plan running till 2015.
The eight centers will be Kaliningrad, Khabarovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, St Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.
These centers will be developed as passenger traffic hubs connecting local, regional and national routes, as well as logistics centers for multi-modal cargo transportation.
