May 2, 2008 (newstodate): Kazakhstan's ministry of transportation is mulling plans for construction of a new airport close to the border with China.
The planned airport will be at Korgas, 15 km from China, that is also an important river port and railway junction for Kazkah and Chinese passenger and cargo transportation.
To finance the project, estimated to cost some 60 mio Tenge, Kazakhstan is considering issuing concessions to non-state operators.
