May 26, 2008 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo's cooperation with Russia's AiRUnion concerns freighter operations at Krasnoyarsk Airport only, and no commercial cooperation is involved, states a Lufthansa Cargo spokesman.
In April 2008, Lufthansa Cargo, AiRUnion and Krasnojarsk Airport signed a MoU covering a strategic cooperation bringing Lufthansa Cargo's Asian freighter flights to transit at Krasnoyarsk Airport for fuelling and crew changes, replacing the current freighter hub at Astana, Kazkahstan.
-AiRUnion is main stakeholder of, and a main driver of growth in Krasnoyarsk Airport, as well as partner of Lufthansa passenger airlines. So AiRUnion is a natural partner for us, says Nils Haupt, Lufthansa Cargo VP Corporate Communications.
-But there are currently no plans for further partnerships or cooperation between Lufthansa Cargo and AiRUnion, says Mr Haupt.
According to Krasnoyarsk Airport's current estimates, cargo volumes will grow from 199,000 tonnes in 2008 to 259,000 tonnes in 2009, reaching 645,000 tonnes in 2015.
