May 2, 2008 (newstodate): Novaport, a Russian regional airport development company, plans to invest heavily in development of Tomsk Airport.
The company has reserved 2.6 bio Rubles to the project at Tomsk Airport, divided into three stages.
In the first stage, 2008-2009, Novaport will invest in the runway and taxiways, and expansion of the current terminal for international traffic. Also in the first stage is construction of a new building for offices, ATC and airport services.
In the second stage, 2010-2011, a new passenger terminal and a new cargo terminal will be constructed.
In a third stage a new runway 3,200 m will be constructed, to allow operations by aircraft of any size.
Tomsk Airport is listed among Russia's 52 airports of strategic state importance.
