May 20, 2008 (newstodate): Foreign as well as domestic investors are invited to participate in the modernisation of Georgia's Kopitnari Airport.
While the state will remain responsible for maintaining and modernising the airport's single runway and ATM systems, investors may participate in modernising the airport's facilities.
The airport is one of Georgia's three international airports and is served by S7 Airlines, Tbilaviamsheni and UM Airlines.
Plans are to develop Kopitnari International Airport, near Kutaisi, into a regional logistics centre as well as an cargo airline hub.
