May 27, 2008 (newstodate): Bulgarian carrier Cargo Air, formerly named Vega Airlines, is preparing to receive its first Boeing freighter.
The ex-US Airways Boeing 737-300F is being test-flown after conversion to freighter and will be put into operational service in June, 2008.
Cargo Air, based at Plovdiv, Bulgaria, has initial plans for the acquisition of two Boeing 737 freighter within two years to replace the fleet of AN-12 that were banned by EU authorities in February, 2007, and had its AOC revoked after alleged breaches of EU safety regulations.
