May 13, 2008 (newstodate): The Belarus carrier Belavia is building up a fleet of leased western-made aircraft to gradually replace the existing Russian aircraft capacity.
Belavia has now received its 3rd Boeing 737-500 aircraft and plans to add a fourth Boeing 737-500 in June, 2008.
The Belavia fleet also now comprises one Bombardier CRJ-100 aircraft, and the carrier will receive a second aircraft next month.
By the end of 2008, Belavia plans to have five Boeing 737-500 and three CRJ-100 aircraft in the fleet that also now comprises three AN-24, three TU-134 and seven TU-154 aircraft.
