May 21, 2008 (newstodate): Alongside the continued testings of the SuperJet 100 that performed its first flights on May 19, Sukhoi plans to assemble four aircraft in 2008.
Once certified, these aircraft will be delivered to Aeroflot that has ordered an initial batch of 30 units, with options for delivery of 15 additional aircraft.
Sukhoi plans to produce 30 SuperJet aircraft in 2009, and 60 in 2010, after which the manufacturer plans to reach its optimal production capacity of 70 aircraft per year.
In total, 800 aircraft will be produced until 2024, including 500 for Russia's domestic carriers and 300 planned to be exported to western airlines.
Sources say the break-even for this aircraft is around 300 aircraft sold.
The SuperJet 100 will reportedly be marketed at a price about 15 percent below its western competitor, Embraer.
