Apr 10, 2008 (newstodate): According to Airbus, operators in the Nordic region of aircraft with 100+ seats will need 436 new aircraft over the next 20 years.
Nordic operators currently operate a total of 311 aircraft with 100+ seats, estimated to grow to 531 units by 2026.
Airbus estimates the future Nordic aircraft acquisitions to comprise 355 single-aisle short and medium-haul units and 81 medium and long-range wide-body units.
In 1990 Airbus aircraft constituted two percent of all aircraft in the Nordic fleets, increasing to 21 percent today.
Seven Nordic airline operators have placed orders for a total of 85 Airbus aircraft, including 37 A320-family aircraft, six A300, eight A330-200 cargo aircraft, 23 A330/A340 and 11 A350 XWB aircraft.
The Nordic region comprises Scandinavia, Finland, Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.
