Apr 2, 2008 (newstodate): Lufthansa has now completed the planned move of operations from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Moscow Domodedovo Airport.
From April 1, 2008, the airline's 69 weekly flights between Germany and Moscow are handled at Moscow Domodedovo that is also the Moscow-hub for Star Alliance fellow members Swiss, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines, Austrian Airlines, bmi and Spanair, while e.g. SAS has chosen to remain at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport.
Lufthansa currently operates between Moscow and German destinations Berlin, Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.
The carrier now provides over 200 direct weekly flights between Germany and 18 CIS cities including Alma-Ata, Ashgabat, Astana, Baku, Donetsk, Kazan, Kiev, Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, St Petersburg, Tbilisi, Ufa, and Yerevan.
