Three locations are now being assessed, and a decision on where to start construction of a new airport is to be made not later than by the end of May, 2008.
Once the location has been selected, design and planning work will start by July, 2008.
The current Irkutsk Airport is often resticted in operations due to fog and other adverse weather phenomena.
The Austrian concern Strabag has expressed interest in investing in the construction of the new airport.
