Apr 24, 2008 (newstodate): In 2007, Moscow International Airport Domodedovo handled 133,662 tonnes of cargo, up 5.8 percent, y-o-y.
Current forecast estimates that cargo traffic in Domodedovo will reach 158,000 tonnes in 2008, and by 2020 it is expected to total 650,000 tonnes.
-The construction of various cargo handling facilities, including an independent cargo terminal for major airlines and a Cargo Village, has been scheduled to be completed within the period from 2008 to 2013, says Evgeny Raevskiy, Moscow Domodedovo International Airport director cargo.
-The total area of the facilities is to cover about 15,000 sq m, and the area of the Cargo Village alone is to span over 22.6 hectares, and a land lot has been allocated and reserved for the development to the north-west of Domodedovo Runway 1.
-The Cargo Village will comprise hangars, warehouses, offices, apron, access road and other necessary infrastructure.
-Negotiations between EAST LINE Group and prospective contractors are currently underway, says Mr Raevskiy.
