Apr 22, 2008 (newstodate): flyLAL, Lithuanian Airlines, plans to triple its cargo transportation capacity in its summer program 2008.
In 2007, the company carried 1,500 tonnes of cargo, budgetted to increase to 2,500 tonnes in 2008.
The rise will be due to flights to 20 destinations in East and West Europe, increased frequency on many routes, and more aircraft capacity.
80 percent of the carrier's cargo sales are generated by freight forwarders, the remaining 20 percent by customers, private and corporate.
flyLAL plans to double its fleet of aircraft from currently eight to 16 units, including four SAAB 340 and 10 Boeing 737 and two Boeing 757.
